Children's Cooking Classes

When children play, they are doing more than having fun. They are learning every minute. They are experimenting, exploring and discovering new horizons and they are doing it with endless energy and curiosity. Ruqxana's primary aim is to get children excited about creating food and being in the kitchen. And of course the educational benefits includes, cooking using math, science, reading, organising their work logically and art that goes along with it. Through a hands-on learning approach to meal and snack preparation, and using the "play approach," some basic nutrition information toward promoting healthy lifestyle and the learning of a practical skill are passed on to the children!

Few types of programmes offered by Cookery Magic:
Cooking Up A Story
A cooking programme created around the reading of a story. Children are read a story and within the story, the children are guided to cook the dishes based on the story. A really fun way to get into a day of story telling with involves eating fun food and cooking it too!
Writing My First Cookbook
There are sessions for 4-6 year olds, 6-9 year olds and 10-12 year olds. During each class Ruqxana teaches her young students age-appropriate cooking skills which combine cooking, cooking art and math.
Family Cooking Classes at the Singapore History Museum
Regular cooking classes for the whole family are held regularly at the Singapore History Museum. The classes are a fun way for the whole family to spend a day together cooking up a storm!

Cooking Class in a Malay Kampong House on Pulau Ubin

This cooking class is conducted in a Malay Kampong house on  Pulau Ubin off Changi that is said to be 200 years old. It has a very small kampong community of only 60 people.  It still feels like Singapore in the 1960's with a laid back lifestyle. To get to  the island, we take a bumboat from Changi Jetty. It is a 10 mins ride. From the jetty on the island we take a stroll to the kampong house that belongs to Kamariah who was born and brought up in the house.  The traditional and Malay dish, Nasi Lemak or the little known and healthy Nasi Kerabu that uses wild jungle herbs, will be taught. Cost: $130 - $150 per person
